American Idol Hollywood Group Rounds (Episode 10) Recap.
Referred to as hell week, American Idol Hollywood week, group rounds thursday night is all but hell to watch. It was definitely an entertaining hour of feel-good triumphs to the downright nasty, with contestants screaming out their Lady GaGa “OOO Ra-Ras” against one another, accusations of ‘plagiarism’ and petty “They STOLE our idea!” remarks flung carelessly towards the recording cameras, made complete with pitchy harmonies and distinctively bad vocals in the background.
Oh, what fun.
The ‘Dreamers’, one of the many tacky group names Idol contestants came up with this episode, including contestant Alex Lambert (what a name sweetheart), and ‘Cliché-rocker’ Mary Powers, went into a bit of a stir when two of their members went missing at the beginning of rehearsals, causing a ‘camera-panic’ ( defined as a state of panic exaggerated by a bad reality TV actor to effectively enhance the mood of a situation at play) The producers, probably dying for a sound bite then, were almost certainly ‘ecstatic’ when ‘Cliché-rocker’ Mary Powers announced,
“These two are not here. They’re fired!”
Contrary to what I’ve been reading on most sites, I don’t think Mary Powers is a bitch. She’s just a crazy control freak.
Oh Mary, what drama, and we are not even gonna talk about your business suit.
Another thing that is tremendously distracting for me this episode, I mean other then ‘Big Mike/over-pimped’ Michael Lynche’s enormous pecs and cold nipples, are his backstories that the producers shoved down our throats (and not in a good way) that I honestly couldn’t care less about. I love babies and all (ok not that much. I lied) but I’ve mentioned this before,
“ I HATE BACKSTORIES especially if they are over-emphasised to support a contestant who otherwise has a pretty average voice.”
‘Over-pimped’ Micheal Lynche’s voice is not just average, its nasal.
I have honestly no idea why they are ‘Pimping’ him so hard this season. I just don’t get his appeal, other then to fellow bears and cubs. (of whom I am friends with, who I love, very much)
‘Big Mike’ mentioned,
“I just can’t wait to get home to meet her(his wife and baby)”
I understand ‘Big Mike’. You and me both.
On a positive note however, I have to give a HUGE shout out to my favourite contestant this episode (at least), Charity Vance, of whom I have been endearingly referring to as ‘Singing sparrow’. Listening to her sing is like listening to a sweet blonde canary on a beautiful summer day. I was so engrossed with her performance that I totally blocked out the effort from the rest of her group members. I’m sure they sang well. Oh Charity, the things you do to me, again.
This episode also brought light to a number of praiseworthy contestants that had previously not been given any form of airtime before. Siobhan Magnus, (Seriously?) who even though was a tad bit wierd, was incredible, along with group member ‘possible-bitch’ Todrick Hall, ‘Purple bangs’ Theri and ‘Acrobat’ Jared Liewer, performing LadyGaGa’s Bad Romance, complete with innovative and engaging choreography . Other contestants worth a shout out include ’Pimped-spot/possible winner’ Andrew Garcia, ‘Packaged-artist’ Katie Stevens, ‘Smooth-as-butter’ Jermaine Purifoy, 'Cry-cry-baby' Didi Benami, ‘Third time the charm’ Angela Martin, “High-note’ Jermaine Sellers, Ashley Rodriguez and ‘Urban Hottie’ Tim Urban.

AMERICAN IDOL 9, HOLLYWOOD WEEK (Episode 9)
Last night was the long anticipated night that fans of Idol, Paula Abdul and Ellen Degeneres, although with possibly different intents, all came together to witness the dawn of a new permanent judge on American Idol.
Ellen, although funny in most bits, was somewhat redundant at times with the humour in her remarks, similar to a generally lovable, yet occasionally annoying child in a class of forty constantly raising her hands at each and every opportunity, merely craving for attention. Having said that, I suppose we can only imagine the pressure the contestants are going through, appreciating any kind of ‘positivity’ that they can garner, even if it means criticisms cloaked under the most perplexing of jokes. On the other hand, I did find myself silently ‘giggling’ (yes i tend to do that sometimes) when she teasingly mentioned to Simon, “So this is it? I come on and you leave..”
Ellen’s jokes aside, episode 9 proves to be packed with early favourites from round-one auditions, giving light (maybe even slightly more than a suggestion, although one can never be too sure) in revealing the contestants from season 9 that will probably be getting the ‘pimp-spot’ from the producers .
With that, before I share with you the highlights of the first round of Hollywood week and as a welcome to our favourite new permanent judge on American Idol (and being true to the way Ellen has been starting off her shows)
“KAAAa KAAAAAaaaa.”
Katie Stevens starts off Hollywood week with her rendition of a Stevie classic, "For once in my life"
Andrew Garcia singing 'Straight Up', by Paula Abdul.
Janell Wheeler singing 'American Boy' during the first round of Hollywood Week.
Lily Scott with her rendition of Lullaby of Birdland during the first round of Hollywood week.
Michael Lynch singing 'Waiting for the world to change'
Didi Benami Singing 'Terrified' for Hollywood Week Round 1
Crystal Bowersox during the first round of Hollywood week singing 'Natural Woman'

"I HATE GAYS AND I HOPE THEY DIE" says Facebook user.
The user mentioned in his 'Album Description' that,
"This is gonna be a compilation of encounters with the "other" kind. To be specific, gays.. No.. FAGGOTS. These degenerate nincompoops without any moral decency should not even be allowed a life!
Its time to bring out a well-known, committed 'homosexualist' Daffyd Thomas from Little Britian. Daffyd comes from the Welsh town of Llanddewi Brefi. I wonder what Daffyd's response to this would be..
Ah. Well said Daffyd. As always.

MY FAVOURITE AMERICAN IDOL 9 CONTESTANTS (WEEK4) Part 2
WELL, the first round of American Idol 9 is FINALLY over!
Here is a recap of my favourite contestants from Episode 8, week 4 of the 'On the Road to Hollywood ' Episode.
On The Road To Hollywood. (Episode 8, Week 4)
Didi Benami sang 'Hey Jude' for her audition. Generally I HATE back stories especially if they are over-emphasised to support a contestant who otherwise has a pretty average voice. However, I teared for Didi's. I know.. Don't remind me of my untapped emotional baggage which is usually in an airtight container tucked and hidden safely, in a place most will never find.
It is official. Aaron Kelly is set to take the 'Young Heartthrob' throne away from David Archuleta. And yes, he has the vocals to match. He auditioned for American Idol 2009, singing Miley Cirus's 'The Climb'. Aaron achieved something even Miley Couldn't : Singing in tune. Live.
Jessica Furney auditions for American Idol 9 in Denver singing “Footprints in the Sand” by Leona Lewis, and composed by Simon Cowell. She was one of my favourites from last year's first round auditions but unfortunately was cut during Hollywood week. I still like her. Kinda. It's just that this year there are so many Kelly Clarkson sound-alikes that it just makes her seem a tad bit too generic. It was as if all of them went to an Idol-bootcamp and throughout the stay, were strapped in a chair, with toothpicks pressing against their eye-lids, and forced to watch 'instructional how-to-scream-it-like-Kelly-Clarkson videos'.
I don't know.
I still prefered her last season when she was not so 'put-together'.
She went for a makeover and ended up looking like everybody else.
Lacey Brown, who made it to top 50 in season 8, auditioned this year, singing "Somewhere over the rainbow" It wasn't a perfect audition, but i like her-ish. I can definately see her doing some jazzy bluesey numbers but she has yet to convince me. Just like Randy and Kara, I shall put her through to my Favourites because as Katy Perry puts it, " its because i don't want to say no to them".
Others who have made it to Hollywood this episode include,
Singing teddy Michael Lynche, who sang 'Unchained Melody' for his audition.
(Apparantly Youtube stars *who isn't nowadays* in their own right) Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox.
These contestants sum up First Round Auditions for American Idol Season 9! I can't wait for Hollywood week! Do share with me your favourites for this week!

MY FAVOURITE AMERICAN IDOL 9 CONTESTANTS (WEEK4) Part1
WELL, the first round of American Idol 9 is FINALLY over!
Here is a recap of my favourite contestants from week 4, of the Denver Auditions.
From the Chicago Auditions (Episode 7, Week 4)
Guest Judge: Victoria Beckham (minus 3 meals a day and loads of tanning, till crispy golden brown with slightly burnt edges)
The other contestants (who I don't really care for) that made in through to hollywood include:
Accident Prone (and shirtless) Casey James.
Country diva wannabe Haeley Vaughn. She sang “Last Name” by Carrie Underwood.
Over tanned and over orange-d Tori Kelly who sang “Gravity” by John Mayer.
Wig Lover/ Possible Rogain Publicist Kimberly Kerbow. She sang “The Way I Am”.
and last but not least, confused son, Mark Labriola. He sang Tempted by Squeeze.
Do share with me your thoughts and favourites and who you wouldn't mind voting for this season. =D

From the Chicago Auditions (Episode 7, Week 4)
Guest Judge: Victoria Beckham (minus 3 meals a day and loads of tanning, till crispy golden brown with slightly burnt edges)
Danelle Hayes (possibly our rocker chick of season 9) auditions for American Idol 9 in Denver singing “I’m the Only One”, which is quite a coincidence for she is the only one I really liked for episode 7 of Idol Season 9. I hope she pulls it together and makes it through to the top 12. Desperation is not a pretty sight my dear, and we have Carly Smithson to vouch for that.
The other contestants (who I don't really care for) that made in through to hollywood include:
Helium cutesy Nicci Nix. She sang “Something Kinda Ooh” by Girls Aloud.

MY FAVOURITE AMERICAN IDOL 9 CONTESTANT (WEEK 3)
WELL, the first round of American Idol 9 is ALMOST over (we are finally just an hour episode away from Hollywood rounds!)
Here is a recap of my favourite contestants from week 3, of the Los Angeles and Dallas Auditions.
From the Los Angeles Auditions (Episode 5, Week 3)
Guest Judge: Avril Lavigne (I 'loved' you but I'm officially a Katy Perry fan as of tonight), Katy Perry (Kara's future replacement/ current frenemy/ well-rounded bitch *with love darlin*)
Mary Powers auditions for American Idol 9 in Los Angeles. She sang “Love Is A Battlefield” by Pat Benatar. Well, theres definately something about Mary, but 1980s just called last night, and they want all of it back. Loved the tone of her vocals, yet personally, I have to agree with Simon when he thought that her performance was cliche. I felt like i was watching an episode of Friends where Joey is playing the role of Dr Drake Ramoray, rock version. Or maybe Mary spent the night before her Idol auditions watching Disney Channel with her daughter, and they were imitating the bad child actors
But yeah, loved her tone.
And her daughter.
And her daughter.
Andrew Garcia auditions on American Idol in Los Angeles singing “Sunday Morning” by Maroon5. FINALLY a contestant that I am extremely estatic over ( I mean other that Charity, my beloved blonde Ugly Betty/ little singing sparrow)
I dunno. Words simply cannot describe his performance.
Lets just watch him and drool together. (again)
Tasha Layton auditions for American Idol 9 in Los Angeles with “Baby Baby Baby” by Joss Stone.
Tasha tasha tasha, our pretty Miss minister. Honestly, she seems like someone i'd like to do a class project with, There's a certain clarity to her voice that I find appealing.
See. God does exist.
From the Dallas Auditions (Episode 6, Week 3)
Guest Judge: Neil Patrick Harris, Joe Jonas (put the three Jonas Brothers together and you have 'noise', so I suppose it makes sense to separate them)
Kimberly Carver auditions for American Idol 9 in Dallas singing an original song. Kimberly needs to stand out more and looking like Kelly Clarkson (again) does not count. We already have Allison Iraheta for that. On the bright side, I loved her finger snapping audition. Simon, what were you thinking.
Kimberly 1: Simon 0, and we're not talking about dress sizes here folks.
Todrick Hall, who has performed with Fantasia Barrino in The Color Purple on Broadway, auditions for American Idol 9 in Dallas, sang an original song which was interestingly catchy. I hope this would be the original-song stand out in Idol Season 9 and not 'Pants on the Ground.
But then again we have William Hung's album release, enough for us to reconsider what is acceptable and what isn't.
Like Heidi Klum once said (and is still saying), one day you're in, and the next day you're out, and she wasn't talking about her giving birth, the octo-mom, or Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
So these are my top favourites for week 3 of the Los Angeles and Dallas auditions. Other contestants that have made it through to Hollywood in these two episodes include Worship Pastor Jim Ranger, Over-pimped/over-adopted Chris Golightly, Dock worker Lloyd Thomas, Barney and Friends dominatrix Erica Rhodes. Maegan Wright, Tourette Syndrome Dave Pittman, and Cancer Survivor Christian Spear.
Do share with me your thoughts and favourites and who you wouldn't mind voting for this season!
MY FAVOURITE AMERICAN IDOL 9 CONTESTANT (WEEK2)
WELL, the first round of American Idol 9 is ALMOST over (we are finally just an hour episode away from Hollywood rounds!)
Here is a recap of my favourite contestants from week 2, of the Chicago and Orlando Auditions.
From the Chicago Auditions (Episode 3, Week 2)
Guest Judge: Shania Twain. (That DID impress me much)
Katelyn Epperly auditions for American Idol 9 in Chicago. She sang “Syrup and Honey” by Duffy and girlfriend sounds incredible, maybe a little too much like Kelly Clarkson. However, as far as Kelly Clarkson soundalikes fate goes on American Idol, I have a pretty good feeling she'll make it far this season.
Charity Vance auditions for American Idol 9 in Chicago singing “Summertime”. She is as cute as a button and I simply adore her! Charity (how can you not love that name), also looks like she should try out for America's Next Top Model. Maybe in another 3 cycles, cause Tyra just completed a cycle with those tiny girls. Her voice just reminds me of a beautiful little sparrow singing in the summer's breeze.
Omg. I'm turning into Mary Poppins. Oh Charity, the things you do to me.
Angela Martin auditions for the third time for American Idol, this time round, in Chicago. I remember her from Archie's season. Angela sang “Just Fine” by Mary J. Blige. Loved her then, Love her more now. I SERIOUSLY hope she'll make it this time. Third time the charm? I'm not one to beg, but PLEEEASSSEE!
Yeah.
Meant to do that.
John Park auditions for American Idol 9 in Chicago. He sang “I Love You More Than You’ll Ever Know” by Donny Hathaway. My god! He just oozes sexy all over. Korean guys are hot, and most importantly, boyfriend can sing his toned tight ass off.
And yes.
I meant to say that too.
From the Orlando Auditions (Episode 4, Week 2)
Guest Judge: Kristin Chenoweth (I liked her, just not with Kara, who is really starting to annoy me this season)
Jermaine Purifoy auditions for American Idol 9 in Orlando. He sang “Smile”. I definately like him, but once again, its one of those 'likes' that are specifically 'reserved' for idol. I can imagine him on broadway and nothing else. Having said that, I love musicals and he did mention in the last bit of his interview that he's going to take more risks, so we'll see. As far as risks go however, he ain't no Adam Lambert, although I'm still positively hopeful.
So these are my top favourites for week 2 of the Chicago and Orlando auditions. Other contestants that made it through in these two episodes include half-faced Shelby Dressel , Cornelius Edwards (Mr-Split-pants-while-doing-a-Tina), Seth Rollins and slightly nasal asthmatic, Paige Dechausse.
On a different note, I HAVE to mention Amy Lang. I think she has one of the best personalities i have seen on this season thus far. Girlfriend is HILARIOUS. Amy, if you are reading this, you know I say it with love.
and for Amy's fans, I sincerely dedicate this clip to you. (Boobboxing and all)
God bless you Amy Lang for you have made the world a better place with those boxing babies.
MY FAVOURITE AMERICAN IDOL 9 CONTESTANT (Week 1)
WELL, the first round of American Idol 9 is ALMOST over (we're probably just an hour episode away from Hollywood rounds)
Here is a recap of my favourite contestants from week 1, of the Boston and Atlanta Auditions.
From the Boston Auditions (Episode 1, Week 1)
Guest Judge: Victoria Beckham (snooze)
Jess Wolfe auditions in Boston for American Idol Season 9 with “People Get Ready” by Curtis Mayfield.
She sounds so much like Joss Stone, who i think is CRAZY hot. She's definately my favourite female contestant from the first week auditions. HOWEVER, simply for the fact that she had to 'share' her audition footage, I'm guessing that she will end up in one of those 'crying-girl-montages' right after they get cut from the competition during the Hollywood week.
Having said that, I hope she does an 'Allison Iraheta' and kicks ass even without getting that much exposure this early on in the competition.
There I said it.
Maddy Curtis auditions for American Idol Season 9 in Boston. She sang “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. I like her for the competition specifically but I doubt very much that I'd ever purchase her album if she comes out a winner. Maybe if she does a Leona Lewis, I might just consider downloading Maddy online. =X
16-year-old Katie Stevens auditions for American Idol Season in Boston. She sang “At Last”. Katie has such a soothing voice and the way she manages to hold her notes, is nothing short of amazing. If you just close your eyes and listen to her sing, vocally she sounds very much like Christina Aguilera, a more 'softer', tender version, without too much of the vocal gymnastics. (with more clothes of course) Yeah. Keep the hate mail to yourself. Christina and I are like BFFs. Well, kinda. ish.
28-year-old Joshua Blaylock auditions for American Idol Season 9 in Boston. He sang “God Bless The Broken Road” by Rascall Flatts. He was not that GREAT, but I cannot help but be biased just this time cause he is simply ADORABLE. Joshua looks like a mix breed of Archuleta and Kris Allen (although i'm a die hard Glambert fan)
Go ArchiAllen!
=D
Justin Williams auditions for American Idol Season 9 in Boston. He sang “Feeling Good.” Oh Lord, I love his voice. He's like a Buble 'lightweight'. Although I'm very sure physically he isn't. =P
From the Atlanta Auditions (Episode 2, Week1)
Guest Judge: Mary J. Blinge (doing a whitney, on crack)
Guest Judge: Mary J. Blinge (doing a whitney, on crack)
Tisha Holland auditions for American Idol Season 9 in Atlanta. She sang “Impossible” by Christina Aguilera. Ooo! Tisha! 'Thats ma gurl!' Nuff said.
Bryan Walker audition for American Idol Season 9 in Atlanta. He sang “Superstar”. I like his voice, i mean he can swoon me with it anytime, but I'm not really crazy of his whole 'package' (and i swear i mean it in the least sexual way possible) I don't know. He's no Danny Gokie, but he's got a really nice, NICE sexy voice.
Jermaine Sellers auditions for American Idol Season 9 in Atlanta. He sang “What If God Was One Of Us” by Joan Osborne. He's definately a stand-out for me for the first week, song choice and all. For what its worth, he sounds as smooth as a well blended, well-chilled banana chocolate protein shake right after a 3 hour gym session WITH cardio.
Uhuh.
I'm not really subtle, I've been told. =D
So yesh. Those are my FAVOURITE contestants from the first week auditions for Season 9. Do share with me your thoughts and favourites for this episode.
