KITTRIBUTORS: Karanobra does 'it's' Idol commentary about throwing forks at Tim Urban, Siobhan Magnus doing 'Hard-to-sing-songs and Didi Benami drinking off Siobhan Magnus's Gothic Mug, while Kittyeatdog talks about Siobhan Magnus knocking down hurdles, Casey James doing 'the Robot' and Katie Stevens munching on too many Oreos.

Siobhan Magnus sings Through the Fire on American Idol 9 Top 10 Performance Night.

Siobhan's performance was like watching an Olympic 100 meters Track and Field Sprint, the one with hurdles. And yes, she knocked them all down.
It was a sad night for us all, especially after the performance when she was shown walking up to the salad table, sulking.
C'mon Siobhan! Do something soft and wierd again. I love the screaming but think Adam Lambert.
Think 'wierd'.

Soul classic....BUT. That song is a make-or-break because it's so hard to sing!!! And she kinda fell flat and often didn't quite hit the note. AND IT'S A HARD TO SING SONG!!! omfg. This just disprove my comment a few weeks ago that she is the phone-book singer of the season =(

Casey James sings Hold On I’m Coming on American Idol 9 Top 10 Performance Night

OK. I JUST figured out that my loathe for Casey is caused by his ability to make me feel uncomfortable. I'd listen to his performance and think, "Hmmm, OK." Then when I peek over my canvases to watch him perform, i just start cringing like there is no tomorrow. He's stiff, smiles like he's been botox-ed and yeah, smile like he's been botox-ed.

I'm just waiting for him to pull his face off during one of his electric guitar performances so that we can finally stop guessing whether he is a robot.

But not next week though. Apparently he's going acoustic.

Maybe the week after.

OK, not much soul, but better than last week. At least he wasnt smiling throughout the song. The nice outfit does help.

Michael Lynche sings Ready for Love on American Idol 9 Top 10 Performance Night

Quoted from Kittyeatdog's Kittribution on American Idol Top 11 Performance Night for Michael Lynche :

"I've never 'kinda-like' a contestant that I loathed so much to begin with. If he keeps this up, Big Mike might just get a 'Double-pimped-spot' kitty ranking from me next week."

Almost there but not quite. Listening to this performance however, I can't stop thinking of how amazing Siobhan would have sounded if she had sung this instead, in her 'House of the Rising Sun/Wicked Game' way.

Oh well.
Karanobra says:

Quite soulful. Wow that was some pretty lovely light treatment for a pimp spot! And why is Usher wearing shades even in the studio? Anyway, the sight of Mike's arm verging on busting through the seams of his dope brown leather jacket is very disturbing. I'm still not won over by Big Mike, because there's something about the tone of his voice that just doesn't connect. Hmmmmm.

Didi Benami sings What Becomes of a Brokenhearted on American Idol 9 Top 10 Performance Night

The crying and the sad-smiling finally got to me this week and I just snapped and decided its time for her to go. That and the four sudden drum beats towards the end of the song, followed by the strange wailing after.

Gawd.

Tears ain't soul. I would have preferred she stripped the song bare and naked with just a piano or guitar. That would have worked. The arrangement was too similar to the original, but it was like a 5th-rate version. The original had so much harmony, but this version was just plain. Has she been secretly taking a sip off Siobhan's gothic mug?!? Cos the past three weeks have been nothing but no fun. Sigh.  And that dress was SO MATRONLY, like something a singer would wear in a atas party.

Tim Urban sings Sweet Love on American Idol 9 Top 10 Performance Night

Kittyeatdog says:

Even Tim's face didn't do it for me this week (It usually makes me feel less icky about his vocals)

Maybe he needs to trim his hair to sound better. Or a few push ups before?
Or just sing topless, and wink intermittently throughout his performance.

That should do it.

Karanobra says:

SOUL?! Seriously?! During that first 20seconds of his singing I felt like throwing my fork at him and just stab it at his eyes. He didnt blink, he was goldfish wide, dead and flat, and he must be seriously mistaken if he thinks THAT was "working the camera". S-O-U-L-E-S-S. I love the song (what a beautiful song), buit he was flat! Someone should do a parody about how he always raises his hand and head when he's trying to hit a high note.

Andrew Garcia sings Forever on American Idol 9 Top 10 Performance Night

Quoted from Kittyeatdog's Kittribution on American Idol Top 11 Performance Night for Katie Stevens :

"Katie's performance this week was like eating cup noodles in a 5 star restaurant, after having been starved for 3 days. It wasn't great, but you're just so thankful that there just something there which wasn't horrid."

If someone would have told me Andrew would have another great eprformance, I would have offered him my new LCD teevee. Because all faith was lost when he saing that hideous grapevine ditty last week. So when Ryan asked "can he redeem himself tonight?", I was like Ryan-don't-ask-questions-you-know-the-ans-to.

Turns out I'm wrong. Garfield brought out another side of the song, more focused on the melody and the lyrics and vocals. Somehow I believed the song deserves more credit for saving him, cos it's gota great hook.
However, vocally it wasn't challenging AT ALL. And did anyone notice how cute his earlobes moved when he sings? Ok maybe it's just me.

Katie Stevens sings Chain of Fools on American Idol 9 Top 10 Performance Night

Kittyeatdog says:

I only say this out of love.

Katie, put down that box of Oreos, pick up the microphone, and start singing.
Or start munching on carrot sticks instead.

Ok. I was just being mean.

*munches on Oreos*

Soul fool, you chose Lady Aretha only if you think you can put your own spin to it. The tempo was so slow I almost thought it was Friday already. The only thing great was her hair. And isn't she going against all the judges' advice by picking an old song?!?!

Put that into the Idol Hall of Over-Performed Songs!

Lee Dewyze sings Treat Her Like A Lady on American Idol 9 Top 10 Performance Night

Kittyeatdog says:
Photobucket

That was definately better than last week but I'm just not (vocally) onboard with Lee Dewyze. I usually prefer rocker-ish vocals but Lee's vocals feels very 'one-dimensional' and almost always, flat.
He's cute though, but when it comes to the vocals, I'm still kind of like-ish about it.
Karanobra says:

Rocker soul!! For me, that was the song with the most soul next to Mamasox. It gave me goosebumps! Terrific song choice. I adore the first part with just him and the guitar.  And Simon's touching words almost brough me to tears. Lee is fast becoming a front runner yay!

Crystal Bowersox sings Midnight Train to Georgia on American Idol 9 Top 10 Performance Night

Kittyeatdog says:

When a performance is as awesome as Bowersox's this week, I just don't really need to say much about it.

Having said that, Bowersox looks like a milk-maid with heels.

If she was standing on grass, I can almost imagine her yodeling away.
Karanobra says:
Photobucket

SOUL! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! Well Paris Bennett did a great rendition a few seasons ago, but Crystal brought her own spin to it. It brought me to tears, and was as good as anything Fantasia performed. I wished the whole song was done on the piano. And I love it when she smiled during the song. LOVELY.

Aaron Kelly sings Ain’t No Sunshine on American Idol 9 Top 10 Performance Night

Kittyeatdog says:

The 'I know, I know, I know, I know, I know' is as awkward as looking at Bowersox in her milkmaid outfit.

Or Casey James smiling.

And the 'kitty rating' I've given explains the rest.
Karanobra says:

Fedorov soul, you must be too young to know that Kris aced that song last season and made it his own. Yes, those people voting for you most probably saw Kris' last year as well. So good luck, cause it was bland, had no climax, and your rendition of the repetitive "I Know" was plain awkward. Mix that with your weird Fedorov dance and it's just BLAH for me. Nice hoodie thou.
